Everything you need to know as you prepare for your journey to Baja.
We know traveling to a retreat in another country can bring questions—especially if you've never been to Cabo Pulmo before. I've gathered some of the questions I'm hearing most often here, and I'll continue adding to this page as questions come up.
And please ask! If you're wondering about something, chances are someone else is wondering too. ๐

โ๏ธ Getting to Baja
Where do I fly?
You will fly into San José del Cabo International Airport (SJD). San José del Cabo is the closest airport to Cabo Pulmo and is approximately 1½ hours from the retreat center.

Will someone meet me at the airport?
Absolutely! We will travel to Baja a few days ahead of the group so we can acclimate, get everything ready, and be there to welcome you.

When you arrive at SJD, you'll go through customs, collect your luggage, and then go through the baggage inspection area. After that, you'll make your way through the indoor tourist/shuttle area and toward the exit doors.
We'll be waiting for you outside. You'll find us at the outdoor restaurant/bar area just beyond the terminal exit.

My biggest piece of airport advice? Keep moving! ๐
There are lots of people inside offering taxis, shuttles, and transportation. You don't need to arrange anything with them. Just continue through the area and make your way outside to meet us.

How do I find my shuttle?
Your transportation from the airport to Baja Serenity will be pre-arranged for our group.
The shuttles come directly from Baja Serenity, and we'll be given the shuttle number to meet outside the terminal. The airport has a very easy system for the many hotel and private-group shuttles—they are clearly numbered and easy to locate.
The shuttle drivers are also monitoring incoming flights and delays, so we can keep track of everyone as they arrive.
If you have a flight that arrives outside of our scheduled shuttle times, we can arrange a private shuttle for you.

What happens if my flight is delayed?
We'll be monitoring incoming flights and will coordinate with the shuttle company if your flight is delayed. If the delay is within a reasonable timeframe, the shuttle can wait.
If the delay is significant enough that a different arrangement is needed, we will help coordinate another shuttle for you.
You won't be left to figure it out on your own.

How long is the journey to Baja Serenity?
The drive from San José del Cabo to Cabo Pulmo is approximately 1½ hours.โ
For our retreat, we will also be making a stop at Rancho Santa Rita Hot Springs along the way. With the hot springs stop, plan for several hours of travel before arriving at Baja Serenity.

๐ต Your Retreat Experience
What happens when we arrive?
When we arrive at Baja Serenity, you'll have time to check into your room and settle in. We'll then gather together for a welcome circle, where we'll create our retreat container, introduce the experience, and give you all of the information you'll need for the week.
Will there be a schedule?
Yes! There will be a schedule of yoga, meditation, workshops, ceremonies, connection, and other experiences throughout the retreat. You will receive a detailed schedule at the welcome circle.

How much free time will I have?
As much as you need!

There will be plenty of built-in free time, and you are welcome to participate in as much—or as little—of the scheduled offerings as feels right for you. The schedule is there to offer opportunities, not obligations.

You can spend time by the water, rest in your room, read, journal, explore, nap, sit in nature, or simply do absolutely nothing.

Can I come alone? โ
Absolutely! Many women come alone and leave with a new circle of sisters. You don't need to know anyone before you arrive. One of the beautiful parts of these retreats is watching connections naturally form within the group.โโโ

What is the weather like?
We will be in Cabo Pulmo at the beginning of March, when spring is beginning.
We typically expect beautiful, warm days in the mid-70s to low 80s°F and cooler desert evenings, often around the mid-60s to low 70s°F.
Weather can vary, so we'll share more specific packing recommendations as the retreat gets closer.

๐Accommodations & Practical Details
What are the accommodations like?
Baja Serenity offers beautiful, comfortable accommodations with a professional local staff who take great care of the property and guests.
Rooms are cleaned and prepared for your arrival, with daily housekeeping. Bathrooms are stocked with shampoo, soap, towels, and beach towels. The grounds and common areas are beautifully maintained, and there is a warm pool available for guests to enjoy.

What meals are included?
All of your meals are included in the retreat.
You'll also have access to tea, coffee, and water throughout the day.

Can dietary restrictions be accommodated?
Yes! When you register, you'll provide information about any dietary restrictions, allergies, or special dietary needs. We'll share that information with the retreat center so they can take good care of you.

Is there Wi-Fi/cell service?
Wi-Fi is available at the retreat center.
For cell service, check with your individual carrier to confirm your Mexico coverage and any international charges or roaming requirements. Many U.S. plans include Mexico coverage, but this varies by carrier and planโ

What should I pack?
Think comfortable, casual, warm-weather clothing with a few layers for cooler evenings.

If you plan to participate in hiking or other outdoor activities, you'll definitely want comfortable shoes.

Please don't forget your important medications and supplements. If you carry an EpiPen or other emergency medication, be sure to bring it with you. Cabo Pulmo is a remote location, so it's important to travel with anything you may need during the week.

Is there laundry available?
Yes. Laundry service is available through the retreat center, but it can be expensive.
I recommend packing accordingly and hand-washing anything you may need between services.
What should I bring for yoga?
Please bring your own Yoga mat and a refillable water bottle.

Are on-site massages available?
Yes! There will be an in-house massage therapist available at the retreat center. You will be able to sign up for a massage once you are there and have a better sense of how you want to spend your free time.

Do I need to bring pesos?
No! You do not need to bring pesos. Credit cards are accepted if you venture off the property.
That said, we recommend bringing some U.S. cash with you for optional services and gratuities.
USD can be especially helpful for:

A typical gratuity is around $10 per person, per day, or approximately $60 per person for the retreat.

You don't need to carry a lot of cash—just enough for gratuities and any extras you may want to enjoy along the way.

๐ Exploring Cabo Pulmo
Will there be snorkeling?
Yes! Cabo Pulmo is famous for its incredible marine life and snorkeling, and we will have an opportunity to take a snorkeling excursion during the retreat.

Once you're registered, I'll ask whether you're interested in going so we can plan accordingly.

Snorkeling is an optional excursion and is currently approximately $100 USD per person. This includes the guided snorkeling experience and equipment. Pricing is subject to change.

The snorkeling operators in Cabo Pulmo are experienced local professionals, and the excursion will be arranged for our group. Their businesses are just a five-minute walk from the retreat center, and the local staff will help coordinate the details for us.

Is there any shopping in Cabo Pulmo?
One of the magical things about Cabo Pulmo is that it is not a typical tourist destination.

It's a very small village surrounded by the national park, with a few taco bars, dive and snorkeling shops, small markets for local supplies that have a handful of Mexican souvenirs.

If you're looking for big shopping centers, nightlife, or a bustling tourist scene, you won't find that here—and that's part of what makes Cabo Pulmo so special.

I know traveling to Mexico can bring questions, especially if you've never been to this part of the country.

Cabo Pulmo is a small community within Cabo Pulmo National Park, approximately 1½ hours from the larger city of San José del Cabo.
โ
I have been traveling to Baja for seven years and have spent extended periods of time there. I completed my yoga teacher training in Baja, have many friends who live there, and have traveled throughout the region. I have always felt welcomed, cared for, and comfortable in the places I've visited.
โ
Cabo Pulmo is a small, close-knit community, and the people there have always been incredibly warm and welcoming to us. The staff at Baja Serenity take wonderful care of our retreat groups.

We will also be traveling and moving through Baja as a group, with transportation and activities arranged ahead of time.
โ
As with any international travel, we'll use common sense, stay aware of our surroundings, and follow local guidance. Because Cabo Pulmo is a remote destination, emergency and medical services are more limited than they would be in a larger city.

โWhat happens if I need help while I'm there?
Baja Serenity has staff members available around the clock, and the owners of Baja Serenity have a home right next to the property.

In the event of an emergency or if you need assistance, we have local support available on site, and we will be with the group throughout the retreat.

What is required to reserve my space?
A $500 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your space.
Your registration is not considered complete until your deposit has been received.

When is my final payment due?
Your final payment is due 90 days before the retreat.
We'll send you a reminder by email as your final payment date approaches.

What is the cancellation policy?
Because the retreat center requires us to make non-refundable commitments well in advance, we have the following cancellation policy:

More than 90 days before the retreat: Your $500 deposit is non-refundable. Any additional payments you've made beyond the deposit will be refunded.

60–90 days before the retreat: Your $500 deposit remains non-refundable. Any additional amount paid will be refunded, unless those funds have already been committed to non-refundable retreat expenses.

30–59 days before the retreat: Payments are non-refundable. If we are able to fill your space with another participant, we will work with you regarding any funds that may be recoverable.

Within 30 days of the retreat: Payments are non-refundable and cannot be transferred to another retreat.

*We understand that unexpected circumstances can happen. If an extenuating circumstance arises, please contact Pamela as soon as possible. We will always do our best to work with you when circumstances allow, but refunds are not guaranteed outside of the policy above.

*Travel insurance is strongly recommended, particularly insurance that includes trip cancellation, interruption, medical coverage, and emergency medical evacuation.
