Led by Dr. Brian Grosam, PhD, L.Ac., this training combines traditional Chinese medicine principles with modern clinical understanding and practical techniques you can confidently apply.

Cupping therapy has been practiced for centuries across many cultures. This course includes a brief overview of its history, along with a discussion of its therapeutic benefits.

 

Cupping is a hands-on therapy that promotes circulation and is highly effective for addressing stagnation, chronic pain, muscle tightness and spasm, trigger points, and inflammation.

 

This comprehensive foundational course introduces a range of cupping tools, styles, and methods, equipping practitioners with versatile, practical skills to support their clients and enhance clinical practice.

 

Participants will learn how to safely and effectively apply fire cupping, sliding cupping, stationary cupping, and suction-based cupping as adjunct therapies in daily practice. Instruction also includes patient preparation, client education, informed consent, and essential safety and hygiene practices to ensure treatments are both effective and appropriate.

 

The course covers the basic theory of injury and chronic pain, along with clear guidance on indications, precautions, and contraindications for treatment.

 

This class is ideal for acupuncturists, massage therapists, bodyworkers, and yoga practitioners.

 

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Confidently administer multiple styles of cupping techniques

  • Understand when cupping therapy is appropriate and clinically indicated

  • Apply proper safety protocols and hygiene practices to ensure patient safety

 

This is an in-depth, hands-on training designed to give practitioners the confidence and competence to integrate cupping therapy into their practice immediately.

 

Course Duration:

This course is designed to be completed in 4 hours; however, participants should allow up to 4.5 hours to accommodate hands-on practice and pacing.
